THE JCB SCHOLARSHIP
The Bennett Foundation is committed to supporting the education and professional development of nursing students through its scholarship program.

In June 2024, the inaugural Julia C. Bennett Scholarship was awarded to Maddison Nelson of Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Nelson is currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in pre-nursing and is expected to graduate in December 2029.

The annual JCB Scholarship is designed to honor the legacy of Julia C. Bennett by providing financial assistance and mentorship to students who embody her values of hard work, integrity, and dedication to the nursing profession.
Recipient Qualifications

Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in nursing by being enrolled in or accepted to an accredited nursing program (LPN, RN, BSN, etc.).

Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

Provide evidence of community service or volunteer work, preferably in health-related fields.

Align with the values of hard work, integrity, and dedication as exemplified by Julia C. Bennett.

Submit a strong personal statement reflecting a commitment to nursing and community service, including a plan for how the scholarship will support their ambition.

Reside in New York City or the surrounding tri-state area.
Selection Criteria
The selection of scholarship recipients will be based on a comprehensive review of the following:

Fulfillment of all recipient qualifications.

Quality and impact of the personal statement or essay, especially how the applicant's values and aspirations align with the mission of the Foundation.

Demonstrated financial need.

Recommendations and references.

An interview may be conducted with finalists to further assess their commitment to nursing and community service.
Applications for the JCB Scholarship are due by Sunday, June 1, 2025.
